Early Life & Career
Born in Tijuana, Mexico, in 1958.
Before wrestling, he trained as a boxer, but later shifted to professional wrestling, debuting in 1976.
Over the years, he wrestled for many Mexican promotions including Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, Tijuana Wrestling, World Wrestling Association (WWA), and Pro Wrestling Revolution.

Rey Misterio Sr wasn’t just a wrestler; he was also a mentor and trainer who helped shape many careers. Among those he trained are his nephew Rey Mysterio Jr., his own son El Hijo de Rey Misterio, Konnan, Psicosis, Halloween, and Damian 666.
He won several championships including the WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship, and teamed up with Rey Mysterio Jr. to win the WWA Tag Team Championship.
Although he officially retired in 2009, he made one of his final in-ring appearances in 2023.
